We are seeking for an outstanding candidate with a degree in either physics, chemistry or materials science and with expertise in electrochemistry. Research will be conducted in cooperation with several academic partners, and in an international environment. The candidate will work on the development of novel tailored polymeric membranes with nanochannels fabricated by ion-track nanotechnology and surface modification techniques. Experience in membrane characterization (e.g. electron microscopy), nanofluidics, physical or chemical surface modification techniques, ion beam modification, and/or chemical etching is a plus.

We are looking for applicants with a:

  • above-average university degree and Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science
  • strong research background
  • experimental experience with polymer membranes and/or nanochannel research
  • good command of English (spoken and written)
  • excellent communication and team skills

Knowledge is expected in the following areas:

  • materials science and nanotechnology
  • fabrication and characterization of nanostructures
  • electrochemical measurements
  • surface modification techniques

Tasks of this position include:

  • development of tailored membranes and nanochannels
  • active participation in ongoing research projects and collaborations
  • support for internal and external users
  • participation in irradiation experiments
  • dissemination and publication of obtained results
  • co-supervision of undergraduate and graduate students
